The Scheme

Outline application

  • Up to 964 new homes, incorporating a residential mix of 1-bed, 2-bed, 3-bed, 4-bed and 5-bed homes.
  • 50% affordable housing – 69% socially rented accommodation, 31% shared ownership.
  • 1/3 of the total site area is open space.
  • 30% of the residential accommodation is family sized.

Phase 1 (Block A)

  • Phase 1 (Block A) is the first phase of the development and is the only block for which detailed planning permission is sought.
  • 194 new homes, 96 of which will be affordable.
  • It will be located in the western end of the site forming the new south-west corner of Devas Street and Devons Road.
  • It will accommodate the new NHS facility, which has the potential to accommodate up to 16 GPs.
  • It will also create Reeves Square and Nelsons Walk and contain a small retail unit.

Phase 2 (Block B)

  • Phase 2 (Block B) will be delivering 230 new homes, 70% of which are affordable.
  • Each home will benefit from private amenity space.
  • There will be secure bicycle storage to all homes.
  • Provides an informal natural wooded area with children’s play space.
  • Access to the private internal courtyard for all residents.

Phase 3 (Block C)

Phase 3 (Block C) of the St. Andrews development has been prepared by Glenn Howells Architects, in consultancy with masterplanners Allies and Morrison, The London Development Agency and Design for London.  Proposals include:

  • 227 new homes, including 74 private, 46 shared ownership and 107 affordable rented.
  • 22 wheelchair units.
  • London townhouse design.
  • Blocks ranging from 6 – 10 storeys in height.
  • A new landscaped area leading up to Bromley-by-Bow Station.
